Student Eligibility

Your alternative education student will love TLC’s Trans Ed Academies!

Each Trans Ed Academy is designed to support the personal and academic growth of each student. Trans Ed Academes are challenging, but non-punitive. We support the talent and inherent worth of your student. In an enriched educational environment, students find themselves naturally engaged in learning. We set high expectations for them, yet recognize that struggle is a critical component of grow and change. Our Trans Ed Academies are extraordinary. We are simply the best at what we do!

Eligibility and Enrollment
TLC has an open enrollment policy. Most alternative education students qualify for enrollment. Specific eligibility is based on an individual student’s needs and our ability to meet their needs. We refer to our students as Non–Traditional Learners. Students, no matter what the reason, are frustrated by traditional classroom settings and teaching methodology.

Students generally enter TLC’s Trans Ed Academies® by being referred from their home public school district. We suggest giving us a call a 610-277-3715, ext. 226 and talk with Susanne Merves, our Associate Director to discuss your student’s eligibility and/or schedule enrollment.

Below are general guidelines. Please don’t hesitate to give us a call or visit one of our Trans Ed Academies.

  1. TLC’s Transformational Education Academies® are 10 month, alternative education programs operated by The Lincoln Center, a non-profit educational organization.

  2. TLC Trans Ed Academies are designed to work with young people in grades 5 through 12 who are experiencing difficulty in traditional school settings.

  3. Students are enrolled for various reasons including academic, behavioral, and personal/emotional struggles in school, at home or in the community.

  4. Students are referred by parents and the public school district. Their length of enrollment can range from a few months to a few years, depending on individual circumstances.
